Ray Promer Surfboards is one of Costa Mesa’s few remaining custom surfboard makers. Amazingly, surfboard manufacturing is another industry being swallowed up by China. However, Ray from Ray Promer Surfboards has not sold out, his boards are 100% American made.

Ray from Ray Promer Surfboards and his crew have over 20 years of experience shaping short, long, knee, stand up, and paddle boards.

A humble and personable Huntington Beach native, Ray from Ray Promer Surfboards has been in the industry since he was a kid. He started out as a grommet (newbie) sweeping up a local surf shop while learning from established shapers. His custom short boards start at affordable price levels.

Promer Surfboards also gives back to the community by sponsoring up and coming young, new talent on the waves. Several young surfers have been fortunate enough to have the sponsorship of Ray and his organization.

In an age of automation and mass production, it is a breath of fresh air to be able to meet face to face with the product creator. Custom board shapes are designed specifically for the individual. Weight, height, and body shape are major aspects in the custom design of a surfboard, as well as surfing style.

These qualities are applied by Ray and his crew in the expert crafting of unique surfboards for each of their clients.
